Jiri College is the lone college in Jiribam District which is located at Kadamtala about 5 km away from Jiribam town towards the South-Eastern side. The college was established in 1981. It is located in a beautiful campus of its own measuring 10.07 acres. From 1981 to 1992, it was a Intermediate Arts College. At this level, the college offered Manipuri, Political Science, Economics, and History subjects. In 1993, the college was upgraded to Bachelor’s Degree level after obtaining temporary affiliation to Manipur University and got permanent affiliation in the year 2009. It was also recognized by UGC under Section 2(f) and 12(B) of UGC Act 1956 on 25th January, 2010.

Initially, the regular classes of the college were conducted in the evening at the premises of the Jiribam Higher Secondary School after having done the normal classes of the school engaging some of lecturers of the school owing to lack of its own sufficient teachers, land and building. The college was, then,  run in a rental building for a long period of time. In August 1993, the college was shifted to its own existing building at Kadamtala, Jiribam. In 1999, the college was given recurring grants by the Govt. of Manipur and became a Govt. Aided College. From 1981 to 2011, the college had only arts stream and offered English, Manipuri, Bengali, History, Political Science, Economics, Geography, Education and Mathematics. Today, Jiri College has made commendable progress and opened up two more streams such as Science offering Chemistry, Physics, Matnematics, Zoology, and Botany in 2012 and Commerce in 2016. However, the higher Secondary section (class XI-XII) of the college had been removed by then.

The college is now standing tall in its ground as a result of the combined efforts, in the past, of various sections of people of Jiribam and the people of Kadamtala Village (the site of the college) particularly. In this regard, it is worth mentioning the students organization (AMSU) who reserved the land for the college; lecturers of Jiribam Higher Secondary School namely S. Manisana Sharma, S. Maniton Singh, L. Ranjitkumar Singh, O. Irabot, L. Thambalngou, Th. Manitombi Devi, Th.
